Showcasing the impact of meaningful music education 🎶
Studio Showcase reveals the joy and impact of arts education by teaching open music lessons where audience members learn and grow with the students in real time. Part concert, part immersive class, we take a look under the hood of arts education with high-level instruction to illuminate how it changes lives.
How it works
🎹
For students
We work with local young musicians from all backgrounds, giving them a chance to perform for free in a low-stakes environment followed by a showcased lesson from a top teaching artist.
Traditional recitals are often cost-prohibitive and high-stress, so Studio Showcase provides a unique educational and personal growth opportunity that many students wouldn’t otherwise have access to.
👏
For audiences
The musician on stage isn’t the only student during Studio Showcase. Each audience member, regardless of age or music knowledge, will learn and grow alongside the music student in real time.
In fact, Studio Showcase commonly serves as a corporate leadership development opportunity or continuing education course across varied businesses and industries.
🧑🏫
For educators
We collaborate with local teachers to highlight their studios. We also collaborate with non-profit music schools, arts centers, and more to support their music programming.
Studio Showcase does not replace any arts education - we serve as special programming that supplements and reinforces all existing arts education.
🏛️
For donors
As part of our mission to make arts education accessible to everyone, Studio Showcase is free for all students and their teachers/studios. We rely on the generous contributions of private venues, community organizations, corporate sponsors, and individual donors. We work with a myriad of public and private programming structures to make Studio Showcase feasible for your organization’s specific needs.
“As an audience member, I cannot explain how transformative this experience was because it was grounded in feeling. I know the UGG team will carry this with us for a long time.”
TRICIA SAN MATEO
Sr Director, Global Retail Brand Expression, UGG
“Zach is an outstanding pianist and teacher who skillfully adapts his methods for students of all ages. His patience and deep knowledge of diverse musical styles create an inspiring learning environment.”
VIVIAN FANG LIU
Private studio owner, international singer-songwriter
“Studio Showcase is a vulnerable education space in which students must trust that everyone in the room has their growth as the highest order of importance. Zach masterfully engenders this trust and presents a class that both students and audience walk away from having learned something profound about themselves.”

Executive Director, BU Tanglewood Institute

Meet our teaching artist & founder
Zach Saffa is a New York City-based music educator and pianist. At Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, he served as a teaching artist and performing arts fellow for Lincoln Center Education. He has performed extensively across the East Coast and internationally, including his debut solo concerto with the Salisbury Symphony to an audience of over 1000 (you can check out a video clip of the performance here!), as well as repeat performances in Europe. Zach originally launched Studio Showcase in the fall of 2018, and after a pandemic hiatus, has relaunched with the mission of sharing music education in action with the world.
Zach holds a masters degree in piano performance from North Carolina School of the Arts and an undergraduate degree in mathematical economics from Wake Forest University, in addition to a post-graduate certificate in teaching artistry from Columbia University Teachers College. Zach also had the privilege of studying at Casa Artom in Venice, Italy, which he later returned post-grad as a Program Assistant. He’s grateful for recurring performance opportunities that allow him to visit Venice annually.

Sponsor a Student
As part of our mission to provide high-level music education for all, Studio Showcase is free for every participating student and their teachers/studios. We rely on the generous contributions of donors to enable as many students as possible to access this life-changing opportunity for growth. Thank you to all of those that help share the joy and impact of music education!
